Safe
Schools Healthy Students |
|
The Safe
Schools Healthy Students (SSHS) Initiative
encourages schools and communities to work
in partnership to create safe and healthy
school environments in which youth can learn
and develop. The overarching goal of
this initiative is to create a comprehensive
county-wide safety system to strengthen and
expand existing community partnerships and
link to a broader range of community
resources.
This goal
assists students in building the skills
necessary to promote positive mental health
development, engage in pro-social behavior,
and prevent violent behavior and drug use.
These efforts are meant to ensure that all
students can learn in a safe, disciplined,
drug-free environment.
The Osceola
Initiative is administered through the
School District of Osceola County in partnership with Department of Juvenile
Justice, Community Vision, The Osceola
County Sheriff's Department and Park Place
Behavioral Health. Funding is provided by a federal partnership between the Department
of Education, Department of Juvenile Justice
and the Department of Health and Human Services.
