Title I of the Elementary and Secondary Act of 1965 as amended by the Improving America's Schools Act of 1994 provides supplemental educational services for eligible public and private school students to assist those children in acquiring the knowledge and skills necessary to meet challenging student performance standards. Federal legislation has provided guidelines for the selection of schools, for the selection of students, and for parental involvement.
In order for your child to be eligible for FREE tutoring, your child MUST attend a Title I school that has been identified as in need of improvement AND be eligible for free or reduced price lunch for the 2011-2012 school year.
In 2009 Osceola County Schools became a supplemental educational services (SES) provider to expand the delivery and quality of the SES services being provided in the district. The district's program is called Osceola's World of Learning (O.W.L.).
O.W.L. Offers tutoring to eligible students at no cost to the parents.
- The sessions are held at the student's school, the home or at an approved public site.
- Certified teachers tutor after school individually or in small group settings of no more than Five students.
- Sessions may take take place after school and/or Saturdays
